Cotoneaster bonsai in fruit
This sweet little tree, just over 30cm tall including the beautiful pot by Peter Krebs, makes me very happy in every season, and each year it progresses well towards maturity. In Winter, fine ramification, in spring tiny lime green leaves fringed with red, in early summer tiny pink flowers, in late summer bright red fruit against glossy deep green leaves, and in late autumn, deepest purple leaves persisting right up until the hardest frosts.
Appologies for the lazy photograph, with a baby daughter I have no time to set up shots with a backdrop... it's been hard enough to finish my new rainwater havest and irrigation system!
