Cotoneaster in Early Summer
This diminutive root over rock bonsai is one of my favourites, the flowers have passed and the fruit has set. It has so much seasonal interest: early to leaf out, glossy green leaves rimmed red as they emerge, delicate pink bud like flowers much beloved by bees, bright red fruit, vivid crimson to purple autumn foliage, and fine, closely ramified twigging in winter.
It's a tree with a storyline too, which you can read here.
